The Six Wives of Henry VIII: Biographies

This is a guide to the six wives of King Henry VIII of England and is created for those in the Medieval and Renaissance Studies (MERS) minor at Brandeis University. It follows the learning objectives of the minor.

How many wives will he have

An entire LibGuide could be focused on just biographies of Henry VIII's wives. You don't have to read every historian's take on these women because the basic factual content changes little from book to book. The biographies listed below cover a vast array of scholarship, including the various positions historians have taken over the centuries (yes centuries!). You may find other biographies not listed here that are more suited to your interests in the MERS minor or major course of study, but the ones here provide a good cross section on their own.
